My 28th Birthday Adventure to Page

Looking for a fun place to throw your next birthday bash?!

Located right on the border of Arizona and Utah, Page is a great home-base for many of the Southwest’s “must see” attractions. With endless activities and beautiful scenery in every direction, your outdoor-loving friends are sure to have an unforgettable time.

Accommodations

I recommend staying at the Hyatt Place Page/Lake Powell because it has THE BEST room views, it is centrally located and reservations include free breakfast, wifi and parking. For this trip, I actually forgot my water shoes at home and was happy to find out there was a Walmart Supercenter less than 10 minutes away from the hotel. The Hyatt also partners with tour guides such as Big Orange Jeeps to make rentals and adventures easier than ever! We had inflatable stand-up paddleboards delivered right to the hotel lobby, although it was unfortunately too windy to take them out.

Dining

This might sound crazy - but you HAVE to go to BirdHouse located just down the street from the Hyatt. They serve the best fried chicken and I highly recommend the Honey Butter flavor along with the mac & cheese. You will not regret it!

If you’re looking for a more upscale dining experience with a view, try Rimview Terrace. I would recommend going for sunset and sitting on the balcony. The food was just OK, but it is one of the better options for ambiance in this small town!

Activites

I saved the best for last! Page is best known for its endless outdoor activities. Whether you love to hike, relax on a boat, or just enjoy epic views - Page has it all!

Toadstools Trailhead (30 minutes from hotel)

This is an easy hike located between Page and Kanab, UT on US-89. the views are amazing and you will not be disappointed with the hoodoos (a tall, thin spire of rock that protrudes from the bottom of an arid drainage basin or badland) at the end of the trail. There is a parking lot and portable restroom available at the trailhead and no fees. The hike is just about 2 miles round-trip with a low 141-ft elevation gain. Be sure to stop at the Welcome to Arizona and Welcome to Utah signs on your way to and from this hike for a great photo op.

Kayaking to Antelope Canyon (20 minutes from hotel)

We had kayaks delivered to Antelope Point Marina from WazSup Kayaks. The earliest launch time is 7:00am and that is what we selected to avoid crowds at the canyon and rough waters from the boats on the lake. Antelope Canyon was easy to find from the water, we were instructed to stay as far left as we could and then we saw a buoy with Antelope Canyon written on it. We beached our kayaks after about 40 minutes of paddling and began our 7 mile round-trip hike. Many people do not hike all the way in, but we wanted to see how far we could go! We eventually ran into a natural wall at 3.5 miles in and could not continue down the canyon any further. With the walking tours being closed, this was a really cool experience. I will likely go back to Antelope Canyon to see the other parts of it on a walking tour, but highly recommend doing both adventures as the kayaking way is spectacular as well!

Horseshoe Bend (10 minutes from hotel)

A very well known attraction, but completely worth it! Horseshoe Bend has a $10 per vehicle entrance fee with restrooms located at the south end of the parking lot. The hike itself is less than 1.5 miles round-trip with a low 380-ft elevation gain. It is quite windy, so prepare accordingly. We used a selfie stick to add height to our photographs so you can actually see the water and the “horseshoe” - it could work if you have a really tall person with you as well!
